Changes to Family Plan

1. Accommodation for Multiple Adults Adapted to Industry Price Lists

In order to better handle today’s hotel price lists, Travel Booster no longer supports the “Person in Triple” and “Person in Quad” price components in internal contracts.
A query for three adults in one room will now be treated as two adults and one sharing. Alternatively, a family plan price component can be defined for three adults in one room.

2. More Flexibility in Family Plan Definitions

The Family Plan price component has undergone the following changes:

  • Beginning with version 6.04, the price component can be applied to one room and, further to the accommodation for multiple adults, can contain 3 or more occupants in one room.
  • Infants can now be included in the definition of the price component.
  • A hotel search will be conducted for rooms associated with the family plan price component only on condition that a main price component does not exist for the exact occupant quantities in the query.
  • When a query is performed for more than one room, Travel Booster will first search for individual rooms (with the family plan price component) suitable for the required occupants. If individual rooms are not found, a search will be executed for an accommodation unit that can contain the minimum number of adults, children, and infants included in the query. If more than one unit is located, the least expensive will be displayed.
    o If the system includes rooms defined with a family plan price component with the exact quantities of occupants as required in one room, individual rooms will be displayed in the results and not one room for all occupants.
    o Prior to this change, a search was conducted individually for each room.
  • The age of the child and infant entered in the query is compared with that included in the definition of the family plan price component. In cases where a child’s age does not meet the age criterion of a family plan price component including children, the child will be considered an adult and rooms containing the appropriate number of adults will be displayed.
    The above logic is applicable also to an infant who will in some instances be considered a child or an adult.

New Features in the Reservation System

1. Workflow Change For Booking Using Payment Gateway

Until this version, a booking was created only after payment was successfully completed via the payment gateway, after which reservations were made for the services requested. When payment was not successful (due to reasons related to the credit card used for payment), a booking was not created. In such a case, all passenger and transaction details were lost.
Beginning with version 6.04, the workflow will be as follows:

  •  A new booking, including passenger details and transactions, is created. No reservations have yet been made.
  • Payment for the booking is attempted via the payment gateway.
    o If payment is successful, reservations are made for the transactions using internal and/or external interfaces.
    o If payment is not successful, the status of the booking will be updated to Close. As no reservations have yet been made, the booking transactions will be without status.
    In addition, this failed booking will be designated to the CRS reservation queue, defined in Administration Tools > Setup > Website Definitions > Booking > Queues.

In order to support payment gateways using a redirect method, credit card details are now entered in a new, distinct page and no longer in the booking details form.

2. New Method for Dynamic Package Flight Search

When performing a flight search as part of a dynamic package, a new Website definition can enable the flight search to be performed either according to the date on which the flight departs from its origin or according to the date on which the flight arrives at its destination.
This definition, located in Administration Tools > Website Definitions > Content >Services > Dynamic Package is supported only in the Amadeus GDS.

3. Vouchers Can Be Issued Automatically for Fully Paid Booking

Prior to this version, when a booking was fully paid for, it was possible to issue a voucher automatically only for the hotel service. Beginning with this version, vouchers can be issued for all services included in the booking. This new option is configured in Administration Tools > Website Definitions > Debit Terms.
If the passenger’s e-mail address has been entered in the Passenger Details form, vouchers will also be sent automatically to this e-mail address.

4. Price Breakdown Now Also Displays Agent Commission

Travel agents working in B2B mode and B2E employees making hotel reservations on behalf of agents will now see displayed on the Price Breakdown pop-up window the commission to which the agent is entitled according to the reservation parameters.

5. Visas Can Now Be Sold As Services

A visa is now a service that can be sold in the Reservation System. Following are the steps to be executed in order to sell this product:

  • Adding the country name (for which the visa is issued) to Administration Tools > Setup > Geography > Destinations.
  • Creating a product contract for the visa in Administration Tools > Products > Contracts > New Visa. In this step, the country added to Destinations will be selected in the Country field.
  • Defining the countries that will appear in the country drop-down list when performing a visa query in the Reservation System. This is configured in Administration Tools > Website Definitions > Content > Services > Visa > Visible Lookup Destination.

B2E users can also create a manual transaction that includes a visa.

6. Activity Query Now Includes Senior Age Category

The activity query pane now includes the Senior age category. Selecting a senior quantity will automatically display fields for selecting the specific age of the senior travelers. The age selected will be used for determining whether the traveler (for the activity selected) indeed falls within the Senior category.
Similar to this, an age field is also displayed when selecting a child quantity. Here, also, the age selected will determine whether the child falls within the children’s age range for the activity selected.

7. Markup Amount Can Now Be Updated From Transaction Row

Until this version, it was necessary to access the Accounting tab in the booking in order to add or update markup. Beginning with version 6.04, the option Add markup has been added to the Actions button in the booking transaction row, allowing markup to be updated much more simply.

8. New Capability to Easily Copy Booking Transaction

For B2E users only, the Actions button in the booking transaction row now includes the option Copy transaction to be used for duplicating the transaction row. The duplicated transaction will include identical information (to that of the original transaction) in the Details and Accounting tabs. Fields in all other tabs will be blank and need to be filled in.

9. Improved Display of Product Details

Clicking the product name in the query results will now display the product details directly on the page and not in a pop-up window, allowing for improved viewing and easier scrolling.
This new display, for now implemented only for hotels, cars, and tours, will be further improved and applied to all products in the near future.


New Features in Administration Tools

1. New Functionality to Define Maximum Free Nights

It is now possible to determine the maximum number of free nights for a specific price component in a hotel contract.
In the screenshot below, a guest staying for 5 nights will pay only for 3 nights (2 nights will be free). If a guest stays for 10 nights, s/he will pay for 7 nights (and not 6 nights as may be expected from “doubling” the “pay-stay” combination). This is because the maximum number of free nights has been defined as 3.

Beginning with version 6.04, the values for both Pay and Stay can also be fractions and not only whole numbers (for example: Pay 2.5 nights,    3 nights). This new feature is useful for granting a 50% reduction on one night of the reservation.

2. New Capability to Deactivate Users, Agents, and Suppliers

Beginning with this version, a user, agent, and supplier can be deactivated in Travel Booster by selecting the “Not Active” check box in the relevant account. These entities are deactivated when you no longer require them for Travel Booster use.
A user is deactivated when s/he no longer requires access to Travel Booster. Once an agent is deactivated, bookings can no longer be created on his or her behalf. If the agent had Internet access for working in B2B mode, this access will also be disabled.
Once a supplier is deactivated, new contracts can no longer be created for the supplier. Existing contracts for deactivated suppliers will need to be unpublished.
Once deactivated, all records pertaining to the entities will still be saved in the system and be displayed in the relevant context.
Note that a deactivated user name cannot be reactivated.

3. New Price Component Reflecting Double for Single Occupancy

A price component can now be defined for reservations made for a single traveler who requires a double room accommodation. Following are the steps to be executed in order to define this new component:

  • Defining the new price component in Setup > Product Definitions > Price Components. In the Definitions section, the Exact quantity of Adult per room must be 2.
  • Selecting the option Double for single occupancy in Website Definitions > Content >Services >Hotel.
  • Selecting the new price component in the Price component field in Database Definitions > Services > Double for Single Occupancy.
    In the Reservation System, the name of the new price component will be displayed in the price breakdown pop-up window, the reservation details, and on the issued voucher.

4. More Options Available for Amending Voucher

All voucher details, including both markup and commission, can now be amended using the Amend voucher option in the Supplier Reconciliation module. The fields which can be amended in the Price Breakdown dialog box are now identical to those displayed in the booking’s Accounting tab.

5. Car Rental Station Can Now Be Linked to Specific Airport

When defining a car rental station, it is now possible to associate the station with a specific IATA airport code. This association will enable the customer searching for a car rental station at a specific airport to receive only results which include car rental companies operating at this airport.

6. New Search Parameter in Users Screen

Beginning with version 6.04, a search can be performed for users in the system according to the branch with which they are associated.
